A National Campaign to Protect Public Health Care
Together, We've Got This
The defense of public health care has begun in the BC Supreme Court. The CEO of the Cambie Surgeries Corporation is trying to further open the door to private, for-profit health care in Canada. If he wins, it will lead to an American-style system where wealthier patients have better access to care. But this spring, expert witnesses have been testifying about the negative consequences of allowing for-profit health care. Read more about the trial here.
In light of this trial, we have launched a national campaign to protect public health care. We’re calling on the federal government to fund health care fairly, keep it public and expand it to include pharmacare. Please share our campaign Fact Sheets with your networks. You should also keep on eye on our social media accounts as we'll be posting shareable images over the next few months.
Our public health care system is worth saving. Help us ensure access to health care continues to be based on people's needs, not on their ability to pay. Together, we've got this!
Do you want to know more about the current state of health care across the country? Our new research report gives an overview of public health care from coast to coast to coast. To fulfill the promise and potential of the Canadian health care system, we need the federal government to assert a real leadership role. Read our report here.
Building on the pharmacare momentum!
As you probably heard, last week the National Advisory Council on the Implementation of National Pharmacare recommended that Canada adopt a universal, public pharmacare program. We're one step closer to making pharmacare a reality!
We need to make sure pharmacare is a major issue in the upcoming federal election. All political parties should commit to adopting universal, public pharmacare in their election platforms. Let's remind our Members of Parliament (MP) that they serve public interests, not the interests of Big Pharma and the insurance industry. Help us get the word out by raising this issue in your community and contacting your MP. You'll find your MP's contact information here.
Now is the time to act! Find out more about pharmacare here.
